OK, so apparently y'all want to do a big family gift, at least according to one frustrating brother. If you guys want to do that, then let's do it. The only reason I called everyone and got your votes is because nobody wanted to talk about it and actually make a decision when you were together. Since you were all together and talked about it, it sounds like you came to a decision. I think that's great. If its what everybody (or most everybody) wants to do, then I will not be responsible for keeping the family from doing what they want. I personally don't care that much that we won't be able to use the big family gift at mom and dad's. If I remember correctly, I was the one who suggested a big family gift at mom and dad's in the first place (though I could not remember clearly, as I wasn't actually there when you talked about it the first time). A big family gift will be cool, and we'll get to use sometimes.
I'm really frustrated that I was told that everyone's "not really OK" with doing a family gift exchange. I say again I AM NOT GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RUINING CHRISTMAS! Whatever the majority of people want to do, we'll do, but in this family, trust me, we're not going to be able to please everyone. Why don't the people that really care about what we do just decide for the rest of us. I was under the impression when I talked to everyone, that pretty much everyone "would be OK" with either, apparently I was wrong. I don't care what you all decide just make a decision and don't make me feel like its my fault when someone isn't happy about it.

I think that it was just David jerking you around. I did hit him for you. It was fun. He yelped and said what was that for. So I told him. Then Dennis chimed in with everyone was happy with the decision that was made. To which David said, "they were coming around once we decided what we would get for mom & dad's." So I don't think that everyone was unhappy with the decision for Christmas. So don't worry, or fret about it. You are not ruining Christmas, or even making anyone unhappy.

Oh my laws!!!!As far as I know, there was only one person(Dave) who had a problem with it. AND he originally voted for a family exchange. THIS IS RIDICULOUS PEOPLE!!! Kim you are not going to ruin Christmas so quit letting Dave bully you around with his whining! For the love of Pete! Everyone else seemed to be fine with it, if they weren't they didn't say anything so OH WELL! Nobody has really wanted to ever decide anything so if you don't speak up you have no right to complain!
We have drawn names. We have set a price limit. We are done. DEAL WITH IT! If it doesn't work out this year we'll try something else next year and count ourselves the wiser, but until then DEAL! Maybe if certain people in the family would stop yakking incessantly about football and take the time to have a real discussion about our family get-togethers (like we have been trying for WEEKS!!!) Then we wouldn't have these problems. Personally, I feel like siding with Michael Scott this year and yelling, "CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED!!"
Sorry for the rage! I am glad to know that I'm not ruining Christmas for everyone...thanks for making me feel better mom and Heather. And for making me laugh, Heather... I think I should just side with Michael Scott and declare BANKRUPTCY!!
